What is a Special Inspector or Deputy Inspector?
If you're managing a construction project and come across a note on your plans requiring a special inspection by a deputy inspector, that's where we step in. A Deputy Inspector and Special Inspector refer to the same role. These inspectors are third-party professionals mandated by the California Building Code across all jurisdictions in the state for every construction site. Although not employed by the city, Deputy Inspectors must hold proper licenses to perform specialized inspections. The city oversees their work to ensure compliance with the California Building Code and approved plans. We are available whenever such inspections are needed.
- Reinforced concrete is being poured over 2500 PSI
- When you are using epoxy for any rebar, anchor bolts, and hold downs, also for installation of expansion anchors, mechanical or bearing anchors and unreinforced masonry
- Shear Wall Nailing Inspections when the nail spacing on shear wall is 4 inches on center or less
- Shotcrete placement including verification of reinforcement prior to the placement of the Shotcrete
- For all the shop and field welding operations and anytime high strength bolts are utilized on structured elements
- Masonry Construction this maybe either periodic or continuous inspection of reinforcing steel grout & mortar placement and testing
